As we spring forward into the final months of the year, arc has accomplished some amazing feats this past winter, and has been busy planning huge events for the coming months. Summer will be here before you know it! Until then, let’s continue bridging the opportunity gap.
- How would you use $100,000 to help shape the future of Los Angeles? We answer that question with MyARC, a digital social network that solves educational challenges on project at a time. Help vote for us at the My LA2050 competition on Good Maker and read more about our project!
- Kennedy High School students made an appearance on Univision’s K-MEX Channel 34 to talk about Kick Butts Day, an event that promotes a healthy, non-smoking lifestyle. Students then encouraged their classmates to sign pledges to not smoke, or to quit smoking.
- Los Angeles and Long Beach area students joined for the Region 11 Student Leaders Retreat on March 16th. The event, held at Animo Pat Brown High School, gave students insight into the LIAS (Learning in Afterschool & Summer) Principles and a space to engage in meaningful dialogue regarding after school programming.
- The Don’t Be Distracted campaign is back! Sponsored by STATE FARM and arc’s non-profit partner CORE Educational Services, the campaign aims to empower middle and high school student leaders to educate their peers about the dangers of driving distracted with an art competition.
